Srinagar, January 29 (KNO) : Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Tuesday put out its ‘Game Changer’ policy Minimum Income Guarantee Programme announced by All India Congress Committee President Rahul Gandhi, for upcoming elections in the state. According to KNO correspondent, the state Congress president, Ghulam Ahmad Mir said that the valley is waiting for this policy to be implemented and the state is in dire need of such a policy. “Once Congress is in power, we will implement it,” Mir said. Mir in his presser in Jammu claimed that the ‘game changer’ policy about poor and people living in Below Poverty Line (BPL) will not be left to gather dust unlike the present dispensations claims. “Rahul Gandhi has done what he promised in other states as well. He delivered what he promised to people,” Mir said, adding that there are various schemes that have been put forth by governments to cater to the needs of the people in need but the programme announced by Gandhi is the master stroke to give people a sigh of relief. “Go to far-off places and you will see that the tall claims made by this government have not reached to the people living at the corners. All of their claims have fallen flat,” Mir said, adding there is a need to give people living in the far flung areas a hope and to save them from living at the edges. Mir said that the announced program is the answer to those dividing forces who have been tearing India apart and Gandhi with this has shown that ‘nation has to be united for the people and not to discriminate on anything be it religious or ideology’. “This scheme is different from MGNREGA as statistics show that their remained a part of people that could not get benefit from that scheme and need of the hour was to strike at the roots of poverty,” he said. State congress chief said that the scheme is aimed to providing people, poor and people living below poverty line a sigh of relief and to provide for them a better life. “Gandhi has shown the care for nation for caring for the people of the nation,” he said. Congress chief Rahul Gandhi recently announced a guaranteed minimum income for the poor across the country, much like the system of social security in the US.(KNO)
